Have you ever found yourself in the “Waiting for Happiness” zone? Of course we would like to think that we appreciate each moment of everyday and strive to take nothing for granted. Yet, in the back of our minds we are waiting for the start of the next month to begin that new eating/fitness plan that would put us on a path to healthier living. Every now and then we spend a moment gazing at that absolutely perfect dress still hanging in the closet. You know the one that we’ve paired with the matching heels and clutch that is embellished with just enough fancy and sass that will catch every eye when walking into any room.
We all do it in one way or another, waiting for the perfect opportunity, impeccable timing or the ideal moment to, well.. be------> in joy. However, it is God’s desire that we have joy. That we live in it, that it bubbles up inside of us so much so that it runs over and over flows on to those that we meet.
Delight- a strong feeling of happiness. You just can’t convince me that there are diamond encrusted golden measuring spoons that God uses to ration out joy and happiness. He tells us that he will give us beauty even for our ashes.
Even at our worst he feels that we are worth it. So, in those moments where you find yourself in that place of preparing to be happy and not walking in it, let the joy of the Lord be your strength. And when you feel that joy, share it with a sister, brother, a spouse, a child, your family, a friend, your community, and the world. Because we know that it’s the fullness of God’s joy that enables us to not only live, but do it that much more abundantly.
Affirmations: Wait Just One Minute
Bold: God, I will bask in the joy that you have for me.
Blessed: Lord, thank you for your everlasting gladness.
Bossy: I will be a delight to others.
Delight yourself also in the LORD: and he shall give you the desires of your heart.
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
